The return of temporary things

Over two years ago I wrote a blog post on temporary things. The main gist of the post was that if we let go of trying to make things last, we can enjoy them for what they are.

Other times we pass up great experiences because they’re temporary and we use how long things last as a measure of their value.

This can be applied to so many aspects of life.

It could be not wearing your cosmetic jewellry much because the gold/silver plating will fade but then you don’t wear them and they fade anyway so you missed out on putting some great looks together.

It could be turning down the opportunity to take time out from life and travel because you don’t know how you’ll adjust back to normal life once it’s over.

It could also be saying no to spending time with someone new because you don’t know where it will lead.

All of these things are just a fear of what next, mainly because we know that certain temporary things have the potential to change us to the point of no return.

What I love is that most things I write about come back around.

I’ve recently had opportunities to embrace temporary things. Unlike many times in the past, I’ve been saying yes instead of no because I don’t want to allow my fear of what happens once it’s over to stop me from having beautiful experiences.
