Daily, Weekly and Monthly.
Every week I write a list of things to do for the week ahead. I’m not the most productive or organised but I like the idea of routine (with room for flexibility). It’s helpful to remind me of things I need to do but also things I’d like to do.
It also helps add structure and value to my evenings because ticking something off the list feels like time well spent.
Some years back I tried switching to a monthly list. This was because I found that I was adding things to my weekly list that didn’t need to be done within the week. They would at times remain on the list for weeks before completion. However, I found that I had too many tasks with more urgency than 28 days so it never worked to plan that far ahead.
Lastly is the daily todo list. I get the most use out of daily to do lists when I write them in the evening for the following day. They’re particularly good on weekends when I have much more time available to get things done.
