Letting go of old favourites

Around 6 years ago I came across a podcast and that I really enjoyed. However, shortly after I discovered it, it ended. I enjoyed the podcast so much that I followed the hosts on their next individual ventures. But overtime my interest in their work began to decline. It no longer felt suited to where … Continue reading Letting go of old favourites →

Keeping up with strangers

Social media makes it really easy to keep up with everything going on in the world around us. From crises happening across the globe to personal details about people we've never met. And on an average day for many, I don't think I'd be wrong in assuming that little thought goes into it. How often … Continue reading Keeping up with strangers →

It might be easy but it’s not helping

Right now is a difficult time for a lot of people. One of the easiest things you can do is read every article, keep up with live news updates online or on TV, scroll social media and panic. But the chances are those things aren't actually helping. Knowing the ever'changing stats of cases in countries … Continue reading It might be easy but it’s not helping →

Consumption and influence

You might be under the impression that the media you consume has no influence over you. But one day you might find yourself saying, doing or buying something that doesn't quite feel like you. For example, on a podcast a woman spoke about how she noticed that when watching a particular reality tv show she … Continue reading Consumption and influence →

Reading back through these posts I'm reminded of the situations that inspired me to write them. I love that my most popular post from February 2022 was my valentines day post. Hoping to be back posting a little bit more this year, starting with a roundup of my most popular posts from each month of 2022. I was first introduced to Neuro-Linguistic Programming around 6 years ago when I had a conversation with a life coach. I'd never even heard of a life coach prior to this but I remember her speaking about NLP and I was really intrigued. A little while after I bought this book. It opened me up to different ways of thinking, some of which felt quite radical at the time but are very normal to me now. After almost 3 years of daily blogging, here are a few things that I found helpful. Some thoughts I had after a week of struggling to write. For me, looking back on old poems is like looking through a photo album. I write poems about life but also the people that have impacted me in some way. Years later, I can look back and remember those moments which I think is pretty special. The poems I have are from the past 8 years and so some of the people I've written about are no longer in my life but I love that I'm able to capture the memories in words. So this is something quite relevant in my life at the moment. We often confuse what we're thinking about with what's important which is only sometimes true. You might find yourself consumed with thoughts of a time you felt embarrassed and end up thinking that it really matters. If you're not sure whether something is important, ask yourself whether it matters in the grand scheme of life and death. More often than not, the answer is no. We often put so much pressure on ourselves to be simple and live simple lives (in terms of having everything go to plan). The truth is people are complex and so is life but that isn't a bad thing.
