There are more than two options

A few weeks ago I was inspired by a reader to stick with this blog once the year comes to a close. I realised that it would be perfectly fine to just keep this blog and post less, it didn't have to be a choice between posting really often or not at all. I also … Continue reading There are more than two options →

I wrote this for you

You know the feeling you get when you read something that resonates. You feel seen, you feel heard and you feel connected, often to a complete stranger. But this person was able to form something that encapsulates a feeling or a moment from your life. It can often serve as a reminder that we're not … Continue reading I wrote this for you →

Daily blogging for the reader

I think it's fair to say that more often than not, a daily blog is for the writer. The reason behind this is almost nobody reads a daily blog every single day. There are occasional readers and regular readers but it's rare to find someone who doesn't miss a post. Posting so often allows me … Continue reading Daily blogging for the reader →

Writing for the reader

I was recently asked about whether I write for myself or for readers. It's something I think about every now and then but it was interesting to be asked. On one hand I write for myself because I love it but on the other hand I write for my readers too. I'm thoughtful about what … Continue reading Writing for the reader →

Reading back through these posts I'm reminded of the situations that inspired me to write them. I love that my most popular post from February 2022 was my valentines day post. Hoping to be back posting a little bit more this year, starting with a roundup of my most popular posts from each month of 2022. I was first introduced to Neuro-Linguistic Programming around 6 years ago when I had a conversation with a life coach. I'd never even heard of a life coach prior to this but I remember her speaking about NLP and I was really intrigued. A little while after I bought this book. It opened me up to different ways of thinking, some of which felt quite radical at the time but are very normal to me now. After almost 3 years of daily blogging, here are a few things that I found helpful. Some thoughts I had after a week of struggling to write. For me, looking back on old poems is like looking through a photo album. I write poems about life but also the people that have impacted me in some way. Years later, I can look back and remember those moments which I think is pretty special. The poems I have are from the past 8 years and so some of the people I've written about are no longer in my life but I love that I'm able to capture the memories in words. So this is something quite relevant in my life at the moment. We often confuse what we're thinking about with what's important which is only sometimes true. You might find yourself consumed with thoughts of a time you felt embarrassed and end up thinking that it really matters. If you're not sure whether something is important, ask yourself whether it matters in the grand scheme of life and death. More often than not, the answer is no. We often put so much pressure on ourselves to be simple and live simple lives (in terms of having everything go to plan). The truth is people are complex and so is life but that isn't a bad thing.
